Final Part 1 of 2

Class / Self Evaluation

I like this class. Mostly because I get to use the computers and I have some friends in this class. I think that some of the writing we did actually helps us, not just learning different careers but also learning to type and writing more. Like it'll help when we need to write essays and all these papers that we will be doing in college/university. Some of the things I didn't like was that I didn't really sit close to anyone I actually knew and no one really interacted with each other. We just sat there doing our work on the computers and didn't try talking to anyone, well at least that is what I have seen around me. I'm not really sure on what I can say to improve this class? Maybe we can do more careers that aren't related with medical career pathways? Also I really wish we can listen to music while we are working. I think listening to music helps you while you work. I think I tried but I don't think I have done my best in this class. I'm always sleepy in the morning so I don't really have energy to do a lot. I'm not sure if I am or aren't a CTR person. I mean I can try. Does that count? Don't think that I am going to smoke or do drugs or be a thief. I just don't consider myself to be good or not that bad either.

IDP Showcase

Yesterday on December 10, 2015 My group and I presented in front of a panel about our project about a rare disease called Nephritis. I admit I was nervous to present, it had been my second time presenting because last time I presented it was in the summer bridge program for Linda Marquez. We had four slides and a mini documentary about Nephritis. The people that were in my group were: Rodney, Angela, and Julie. Rodney went first and talked about his part, then Julie went, after was Angela, then me. After I finished my part, Julie projected her phone and played the small Documentary she made. My groups parents were there except mine. I have learned from this experience and will use the information we had so I can take care of myself and won't get this disease. The panel did ask questions that we all tried our best to answer then finished the presentation.

"Always do right." - Mark Twain
I think sometimes everyone should live by this quote. And I say that because sometimes to do good you have to do bad. I believe that Our world would not function properly if it were all bad or if it were all good, I believe that our world needs to be be balanced between good and bad. Yes there are times when you have to do good like, sharing things or just being nice and helping someone out. I think people are wrong when they say it's a cruel world. The earth is a beautiful place that is controlled by humans, some are selfish and greedy and want power. This world is good but some people in it aren't. Many want to see them change, but how can they when there isn't a good example in front of them? You can be the example. You can change yourself to be good and many others will start to follow. That is all it takes to make this place better. Isn't that the correct answer?  As much as I would say you should always do the right thing, I still believe that there must be bad in this world to have balance in all of our lives. I don't know where I was going with this.

"If we do what's right, we have no need to fear."-Evan Stephens

I think everyone can agree that when you have done something wrong, you get scared of getting caught. You don't want anything to happen to you. You fear of the consequences that will come after what you did. But you don't have to fear, you don't have to wait for them to give you your punishment. You don't have to as long as you are doing good. If you are behaving and not doing anything wrong, there will be nothing to fear of because you have done no harm to anyone or anything. Many people regret what they have done after it's done, that's when they fear of the consequences that come. It stays in your mind all day and it's hard to dismiss as if it were nothing. Maybe there will be something to distract you for a while but it won't be long before it's back on your mind. You'll begin feeling bad and you'll feel guilty for what you've done. None of it has to happen unless you do what is righteous and good. No harm will be done to you, there will be nothing to worry about.

"1. Can people trust me to do what's right?
 2. Am I committed to do my very best?
 3. Do I treat people the way I want to be treated?
If the answers to these questions are yes, there is no way you can fail." - Lou Holtz

These questions let you know whether you are doing the right or wrong thing in life. If you say no to one of these questions, you can fix them. It is never too late to fix something. You know you are doing good if you answer yes to all the questions. If you say no then start treating people the way you would like to be treated. Make people know you are trustworthy. Commit yourself to do your very best, not just in school but in life. Doing this will help you succeed in life, many great things can come when you do the right thing.

There are many things to see in Tokyo. There's shrines and temples. Many restaurants with different types of food I would like to try at least once in my life, the Tokyo Dome and Disneyland there. Also the museums. I would want to explore the city in places like Shinjuku Golden Gai, Kabukichō,Ueno Zoo, Takeshita Street and many districts there.

" Kindness is the essence of greatness." - Joseph B. Wirthlin

Being kind is one of the best things you can do. It can change the way people see you, in a good way. It also helps change people's attitude. Kindness is something everyone should receive. It can cheer someone up and make them feel better. Be kind to everyone, and everyone will be kind to you. Being kind can be just being nice to someone, even if you don't really like them. Be respectful to others and their interest. Help someone out when in need. Even sharing things like your school supplies can be kind. Giving money to the homeless so they can buy themselves food or giving them clothes.  There's many things you can do to be kind to someone that will effect greatly.

"Hold yourself responsible for a higher standard than anybody else expects of you. Never excuse yourself." -Henry Ward Beecher

If something goes wrong, do not blame others for it and take responsibility. If you know it is your fault don't try to blame it on someone else so people will not make you feel guilty. There are many people who do this. But even if they are doing it, it is not right. No matter how many people do it.
  Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a day that is celebrated with family and friends. You give thanks to anything you are thankful for like the food you have, clothes, and the roof over your head and your family. Most people eat a large turkey with all sorts of food on thanksgiving. Thanks giving was started in the 1600's when the pilgrims had their first successful harvest

"If it is not right, do not not do it; If it is not true, do not say it." - Marcus Aurelius

If something isn't right, do not do it. If smoking isn't good, do not do it. If breaking the law is not good, do not do it. Everyone knows what is right and what is wrong. If it is not true, do not say it. If you hear rumors about someone, do not tell others if you know it might not be true. If you have false information about a certain thing, do not say it because it is not true.

"Doing what is right, fair and honorable is more important than winning or losing." - Chick Moorman

Most people don't like to lose, so that is why winning is so important to them. But winning isn't everything. Putting at least effort into your work is still as good as winning. If someone gets a low score, do not tell them they're an idiot. Encourage them to do better! If all you care about is winning, then you're just a loser. Winning is not important, it isn't a tittle that makes you better than anyone else, it is just a word.

"He that walketh with wise men shall be wise; but a companion of fools shall be destroyed." - Proverbs 13:20

You will be successful when you are with smart people. Fools that like to go out partying, drinking, and smoking are destroying themselves and will never be successful. Those who do good receive good, those who do bad receive bad. What these proverbs are telling you is that you have two options. One, you can be successful. Two, you can be demolished.  It is your choice, but being successful is better. You might be having fun for awhile but that will soon fade. It won't be worth it.

"The best recreation is to do good." - William Penn

Recreation means to do something you like to do. Some people like to do good, that is their best recreation. Other people may disagree but I agree that the best recreation you can do is do good. Many people say that doing good gives you a good feeling. Doing good will make you feel better when in harsh times. People in the world today sometimes don't choose to have good to one of their recreations. Everyone should have that so that we can make the world a better place.

"Right is right, even if everyone is against it; and wrong is wrong, even if everyone is for it." - William Penn

Everyone should know what is right and what is wrong. Not everyone will choose to do the right, but you should be the one who stands up to choose the right even if you stand alone. If there is some other who does not want to do the right thing then let em' be. That is their decision whether you like it or not. You won't be able to change that. Worry about yourself and do what you think is really right. If everyone thinks you are a fool for choosing to do the right then don't listen to them. You are doing something for a good cause that is right.

"Don't sacrifice what you want most for what you want now. Write down what you want most and see it often." - Peter Vidmar

I can relate to this quote. There are times when I want to do something that will affect what I need to do. For example, instead of doing my homework I will use my electronic or watch Television. Other times, instead of doing a chore I go out. I think this quote is meaningful and everyone should live by it to achieve their goals. I will live by it so I can have all A's in all my classes and have 100's on my test scores.

"A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches." Proverbs 22:1

Money is a common thing that is not important as having a good name. Having a good name is better than riches because when you're dead, everyone you thought loved you won't be at your funeral. They'll take your money and just disappear into thin air. Nobody misses a rich man. It is what is in your heart that counts. Not the money, or how many cars you have or the house that you have. None of that will matter when you are dead.

"A good name is better than anything you can achieve in this life." - Coach K. (Mike Kryzyewski)

In life, one of the most important goals is to have a good name. A good name can help you out in life. No one would want to be around someone, knowing they aren't good. We should set a good example for everyone around us. Soon everyone will do the same. Being bad will only get you a bad name thus leaving you alone with all the other bad people out there. If you already have a bad name, change yourself for the better. I believe everyone has a second chance no matter what they have done. That means for even the worst person in the world would still have a second chance in life within my eyes. You may not think the same but this is what I believe. If you are bad then change yourself for the better because everyone deserves a second chance no matter what they have done.

"If your so-called friends urge you to do anything you know to be wrong, You be the one to make a stand for right, even if you stand alone. Have the moral courage to be light for others to follow." -Thomas S. Monson

If know someone is doing something wrong, do not take part in that. You know what is right and wrong. Stand up for something even if you're alone. When people see someone stand up they'll do it too! Don't go and do something with your "friends" if you know it is wrong. Stand up and say, "This is wrong and we shouldn't be doing this, it is not right." If they do not listen to you then leave them and stop being their friend. They're only going to bring chaos into your life if you hang around with people like that. Do not change something about yourself so they are pleased. You alone can not change the world. Set a good example for people. Soon they will follow your footsteps and choose the right.

"A CTR champion is a person who makes a great human out of himself." - Noemi Trigueros
You aren't a champion if you have a bad character. It takes a good person to be a champion. Cheating should not be a way for someone to be a champion. You will get caught sooner or later. It is best to just be honest. If you cannot win a race then try harder and just keep doing your best. Cheating is not the way to go. Everyone is a winner in the end. We are all champions when we have good character.

"Success is not an accident. Success is actually a choice. Are the habits you have today on par with the dreams you have tomorrow?" - Alan Stein

You can choose to be successful. Or you can choose to fail. It is true that success is not caused by an accident. You must work hard to be successful. Neither should you cheat your way to the top. No one deserves success unless they work for it. You can destroy your bad habits and make new ones when wanting to become successful. For example, if you get rid of the habit of not doing your work, you can replace it by doing your work on time. If you stop your habit of cursing, you won't get in trouble like you use to. If you start being more active, you won't be as tired as when you are in P.E.

 Obedience
"When obedience becomes our goal, it is no longer an irritation; instead of a stumbling block, it becomes a building block." - James E. Faust

This quote means instead of obedience being something that you don't want to do, it becomes something you have to do by your own will. It can make you stronger. It can build you a better life. For example, following the laws will not get you into trouble. Listening to your parents builds a strong relationship with them. Good things can come when you are obedient. When you are not obedient, your freedom can be taken away from you.

"Do what makes you happy, not what makes others happy." - Andrea Temores.

You shouldn't do something because someone said you should. It would make them happy, but your happiness should be your priority rather than theirs. It is your life, do what makes you happy because one day you'll be gone and regret what you never did. It is your decision, not theirs. For example, if someone told you to stop watching a show or movie, but it makes you happy but it makes them hate it, would you do it? If someone told you to not eat something just because they didn't like it would you? If you were reading your favorite book but someone said they didn't like it would you stop reading it? I think the answer would be no. Just because they're not happy with your decision shouldn't mean you shouldn't be happy about it either.

"Obedience is central to becoming, being, and remaining happy." - David Bednar

What this means is that being obedient can make you happy. Being obedient can bring good things into your life. For example, if you're being good in class you will get good grades. If you are obedient to your parents, doing what they tell you to do, you can receive good things like respect, love, maybe that new phone you wanted or going out to eat with your friends. It is better to be obedient than to be disobedient. I think it also depends on the situation you are in when being obedient. You will be happy if your are obedient. Good things will come to you when you are obedient.

"What you are as a person is far more important than what you are as a basketball player."- John Wooden

There is more than to having a tittle. Being the best basketball player will mean nothing, it's just a tittle, but having a good character and attitude will do something, it can lead you to having a happy life than just having a tittle. I think that it's not about winning the game, it's more of having fun, and if you have a positive attitude then that is what would help you win.

" True wealth is of the heart, not of the purse." - Patriarch of Antioch

Whats this means is that you'll be rich from love and not money. I believe that if you are the most poor man or woman in the world, you would be more happy than the richest man or woman in the world. If you are rich, people would only want you for your money and not you, they'll use you. And if you care more about money then you'll end up alone and die alone. I'm absolutely positive that everyone would not want to die alone in the world. Most times, when people aren't rich, no one really cares about having money, sure they try to work for it, but that's only to pay for the things we need. They would care more about their family and their friends. People always say that poor people are the most rich people, and it' its true, they are rich in the heart full of love instead of money.

"When I do good, I feel good. When I do bad, I feel bad." - Abraham Lincoln.

I sometimes feel the same way he does. Doing something good, does make me feel better about myself, but when i do something bad I feel disgusted with myself and regret it. I hate feeling like that. When I do good on a test, I feel proud of myself that I got a good grade on my test. When I hurt someone's feelings on accident I feel bad about it and apologize for it. I think we should live by it because it would help us make decisions in our every day life. We'll feel good at the end of the day and we might have helped people and have good outcomes from being good.

"The key to freedom is obedience. The more obedient we are, the more freedom we have." - Boyd K. Packer

This is a good statement to live by because when you are obedient you get more advantages. For example obey your teachers, you will get good grades and they will also get to do things like, sit next to your friends, have free time, maybe even use your phone. If you obey the laws, you'll have freedom to do whatever you want. but if you disobey you'll be sent to jail, where all your freedom is taken away.  911 Attack
On September 11th 2001, the twin towers and world trade center in New York collapsed. Both twin towers were hit by two airplanes that had been hijacked. My first memory of it was when i was nine, I am not sure if i knew about it when I was younger but all I can remember when I was nine, my teacher was talking about it with the class.

Almost like everyone says, its tragic. I do wish that this never happened, i always say if it happens it happens, we'll just have to learn to live with it. That's what i think about 911 but we can still ive and pass by it, we'll become stronger as a country. We can't change the past but we can try and make the future better.

"Education is the latch key to success in life."- Gordon B. Hinckley

Education can bring many opportunities in your life, it opens so many doors. Education can get you a good job, and with a good job you can get somewhere to live, food to eat, things you need or want. Education is now an important thing everyone should receive. I think kids here in america should take advantage that there are public schools because in other countries kids don't have schools there and some have to pay a lot of money just to be in school. Without it we can't get the things in life we need, and things could turn for the worse if you don't have at least a diploma because they'll have to depend on someone or become homeless and suffer on the streets.

"Decisions determine destiny." -Thomas s. Monson

Your choices make your future. Any choice you make will affect your future. You can choose to do the right thing and come out with a good future. But, if you choose the wrong option you'll likely end up with a bad outcome. I can choose whether it's right or wrong and it won't be anyone's fault if it's a good outcome or a bad outcome because I chose to do it, no one else.

  •   If you choose to do crime, makes your decision and you go to jail.
  •  If you choose to do you homework, you'll get a good grade.
  •  If you choose to wash your clothes you won't have to go to school or any other place with dirty clothes.
