"You will go far with CTR." Mr. Haymore

When you do good things, good things will come back you. It might take sometime but you will be rewarded with what you deserve. You should alway try to help others because maybe one day someone will do the same for you, or you''ll do something for someone in need and make them feel good. I think those are the best moments knowing how the world is today. Seeing how their faces light up and their smiles get big. It gives you a good feeling you helped others.

"I would prefer even to ail with honor than to win by cheating." - Sophocles.

Failing with honor is not essentially failing and winning by cheating is failing. It is best to fail while living by integrity and honesty that to win by cheating. Just stay true to what you really believe, even if it means that you will have to lose.

An Internal Phenomenon

"The reward for doing right is mostly an internal phenomenon: Self-respect, dignity (self worth), integrity, and self-esteem." Dr. Laura Schlesinger

Humility is what allows integrity to survive moral indiscretions. Even so, it’s important to realize that it takes more time to develop integrity than to destroy it and even more time to restore it when it is damaged. While Integrity has some room for errors, just one momentary indiscretion has the potential to be a major setback against a lifetime of progress. This implies that people serious about their integrity should behave as if any violation will destroy it and when necessary, respond with humility and urgency to restore it

"In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing." Theodore Roosevelt

Life is an exploration, not only in the environment around us, but more importantly, into ourselves. Every interaction we have with other people is a direct effect of what we have, or have not, discovered in our own souls. Understanding our soul helps us develop solutions in how we interact with others. In order to find true happiness, make the right decisions, and add value to others, you most explore your soul to discover your own, leadership solutions.

I try to do the right thing at the right time. They may just be little things, but usually they make the difference between winning and losing. In life, try your best to do the right thing. Have fun while you're alive. Take advantage of every asset you have. Don't take anything for granted. Sometimes it is better to lose and do the right thing than to win and do the wrong thing.

"Nothing is ever gain in doing what's wrong." - Wilford Woodruff

Most people think that when they do something wrong they gain something but in reality they don't. You just gain the bad consequences and feelings with what you did wrong. What you lose is everyone's trust in you and you can even have something on your record that holds you back from going to a certain school or getting a job. You shouldn't ruin your future for something stupid. It's not worth it. It really isn't but you know, there's only so much you can do to help someone in not doing the wrong. But just worry about yourself not them.

“I have been asked what I mean by ‘word of honor’. I will tell you: Place me behind prison walls-walls of stone ever so high, ever so thick, reaching ever so far into the ground-there is a possibility that in some way or another i might be able to escape; but stand me on the floor and draw a chalk line around me and have me give my word of honor never to cross it. Can i get out of that circle? No, never! I’d die first.” - Karl G. Maeser

A word of honor is a solemn promise. It’s a promise you can not break at all or you will lose trust. Living with honor is an employable skill. It is something with great meaning. We have to show others that they can trust us because we won’t break any promises if it’s just about a secret or something very personal of theirs or anything like that. We can’t break promises like that because it shows we aren’t trustworthy and it really isn’t a good thing. Others think that our word of honor isn’t really important but in reality it is! It shows that we aren’t fake and won’t tell any lies or spread rumors or if you ask us not to do something in honor we won’t.

"Goodness is the only investment that never fails." - Henry David Thoreau

People always invest in things that aren't good for them or don't really matter. They waste their time, money, and effort to get the materialistic things they don't need, But they never think about important things like being, kind, responsible, helpful to others etc. Those are the investments that really matter in life. Not Money, or Power, all that is nothing compared to being good.

Character Is Higher Than Intellect.” -  Ralph Waldo Emerson
The way you live your life and the choices you make are more important than how smart you are. When you have no regrets, it is easy to think clearly. Having knowledge is a key to life but sometimes just having knowledge can’t be good. Let me put it this way, having knowledge and character is like yin and yang. In order to have life you have to have the good and bad. Just having one can cause destruction but having both makes everything balanced. Having knowledge but also having character will make us and our lives balanced.

"They're only truly great who are truly good." - George Chapman

What makes a person great is their character. Many think they're great just because they've accomplished something others haven't. You become great only if you do good, not by doing wrong.
“I trust that my hard work will pay off.” - Tyler Haws

Getting things you want isn’t really easy. You must work hard in order to get it. Nothing in life can be just handed to you unless you work for it. Whether you want to get into a sports team, become an actress or have the job of your dreams, getting a new phone or good grades in your classes. You have to work hard for it because there’s so many other people who would want to become something or someone in this big world but you must work for it harder than anyone else in order to get it.

"Ask yourself is it right or wrong and act accordingly." - Otto Graham Jr.

In life we must make decision to move on and live. We have the choice on how we want to live our life, but a question you must always ask yourself when making a decision is, is it right? Or is it wrong? Is it right to listen to your parents ? Is it right to take someone's phone when they aren't looking? Your actions must be honest and a correct thing to do in order for them to be right. I think we humans have guilt programmed into our system because it's like your gut feeling in a way. We feel guilt because when we do something that wasn't right and knew it wasn't then that is our punishment. It's a way of showing that we shouldn't have done that and it wasn't right, like a parent scolding their child.
"It may make a difference to all  eternity whether we do right or wrong today." - James Freeman Clarke

The choices we make in our life now can affect us in the future. We must choose wisely on what we do if we want to have a good future. You can't expect to live the good life if you're doing bad can you? Doing things that will end up on our record can affect us in the future when we want to get a job or go into a certain college. We should do good to feel good and if we do then we'll get what we deserved because we worked for it.

Good People are better friends than the bad ones. Don't associate yourself with the bad people. They will only bring you harm. When surrounded by the bad, you should stay alone rather than be with them, they will do you no good. The friends you think are cool that always mess around in class, raley do their work or  get into arguments with everyone are not good friends.

"Right is Right only when entire." -Victor Hugo

There are things out there that people think is still right even though it had a bit of wrong in it. It's sad to say there are people out there that still don't know right from wrong so they think that right is wrong and wrong is right. No that's not how it works. Right is Right and we all should know wrong is wrong. It doesn't matter whether someone's life is on the line or not. For example, when someone wants to commit suicide, everyone will think it is selfish that they're taking their life away while others are wanting to live it. What is selfish is keeping someone alive who is unhappy so much that they want to leave the earth. They'll say it's wrong because you're taking the life away god gave you or whatever but instead of telling them they're wrong and selfish, you should try helping them not wanting to commit suicide because telling them they're wrong can be a trigger for them. You may think that getting revenge on someone is right but in reality it isn't. I know from experience, that i've wanted to beat someone up really bad because they did something to me but I don't. I know it isn't right to do that to them even though they've done something to me. Because in the end, I am not going to let myself stoop to their level and they'll get what they deserve soon.

"If you do what's right, if you live the right way, you'll be taken care of." - Rachel Castillo

I believe in the saying what goes around, comes around, and it's what most people know as karma. Our actions cause or outcomes so we must be wise when making a decision. For example, if you do wrong to someone then the same will be done to you. But if you do something good, something good in return will come to you. And that also means, treat others like you want to be treated. You may be bad and do all these things to get what you want but they won't last long. They'll perish and you will be left with nothing.

"Only those live who do good." Count Leo Tolstoy

You only really feel alive when you have done something good. For example, helping an elderly man or woman up the stairs, or helping a teacher carry their things into their classroom, even helping your mother or father at home with chores makes you feel accomplished. Those who do bad won't really get any feeling out of it, you'll end up feeling a poor excuse for a human being and feel regret for whatever you've done. We are not meant to do cruel things to each other. Humans shouldn't have been made so that everything they touch becomes broken and we even do that to each other. They say that the world is a cruel place but infact it's not, it's the humans living here that make it cruel. This world has so much to offer, and so much to see than what meets the eye. But there are people out there who are greedy and selfish and only care about themselves. It's not right. Everyone should help one and another when in need. We shouldn't get into a big fight and end up hurt over something so stupid like they comment on the way you look or they're spreading rumors or is they're "better" than you because the're not. No can be a better you than you yourself.

"What right isn't always popular. What's popular isn't always right." - Albert Einstein

Because it's popular, people think it is okay to do it, when really it's not. And if trying to do the right thing, people think it's lame or only losers do it. That is wrong. Just because someone else is doing is doesn't mean it is right. Before making a choice, ask yourself if it is right. Because most times when people do something, they don't know whether it is right or if it's wrong. They only do it because everyone else is doing it.

"I hated poverty. Poverty is more of a choice than anything else, and I can change that (poverty). It depends upon how how hard I want to work and I decided that I would change it." - Dr. Ben Carson

Many people believe they can not change their living situation. But they're wrong, they can change it. They just have to put their minds to it. Something that can help them is education. Whatever you want to study or learn about will help you go places is you set your mind to it.

"I wasn't trying to leave a legacy. I was trying to do what was right." - Dean Smith

Everyone wants to be remembered by doing something great. But you don't need everyone to remember you, you just need one person. You don't need to have a world record or contribute something big to the world. You should always do what is right. No matter what you become, a scientist, a horseback rider, an artist, a police officer. No matter what, don't try and leave some legacy, just do what is right because that it what will matter in the end and it will effect you greatly in your life. Yes you have a purpose in this world, yes you are important to this world. But it doesn't mean you have to become big in order to change the world.

"It's not about how to achieve your dreams. It's about how to lead your life. If you lead your life the right way, the karma (destiny, fortune, good luck) will take care of itself. The dreams will come to you." - Dr.Randy Pausch

In order to live a good life, we must do good. You must believe in yourself first before getting whatever you want. You must give it your all because you only get one shot in life and you must take that opportunity and never let it go. If you want to become and artist, keep drawing until your hand hurts. If you want to be an olympic runner, keep running til' you can't stand anymore. If you want to have a good life, always traveling around the world and have the fanciest things in life then work for it. You gain nothing if you don't even try. If you really want this do not ever give up. Sure it will be hard to achieve it but all the hard work will be worth it in the end. Keep fighting for what you're aiming for and nothing but you yourself can stop you from reaching your dreams.

Educating the Body, Mind, and Character

"Of all the work that is done or that can be done for our country, the greatest is that of educating the BODY, the MIND, and above all the CHARACTER, giving spiritual and moral training to those who in a few year are themselves to decide the destinies of the nation." -Theodore Roosevelt

To make ourselves better, we must first make our Bodies, our Minds, and especially our Character improve itselves. We have to balance ourselves as if we were on a tightrope. We must know what is right from wrong in order to do good. We mustn't let bad ideas run in our head, only good ones. We can be kind to everyone help out if when needed.

"Take responsibility for your own mind, body, and spirit. For your own physical, mental, and spiritual well-being." - Mr. Haymore

No one but we ourselves can control our body, mind, and spirit. We ourselves can control our actions, our words, our thoughts, and opinions. It is our choice whether we put them to use for the better or the worse. If we do something bad because of our actions then we must take responsibility for what we have done. Instead of doing bad, we can do good. And doing good can help our Body, Mind, and Spirit.

They also have the graduation requirements for Lausd Students. Students have to have a grade above a C in order to graduate.

The Goal Of True Education

"Intelligence is not enough. Intelligence plus character, that is the goal of true education." - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Having both Intelligence and character are good things everyone in the world needs. It balances your life. Not having the other can become negative to your life. For Example, you may be very smart but not having character can change what others think of you. You can be cold and mean, people will call you a jerk and they wouldn't care for your intelligence. Another example is when you may have a really good character but you're not that intelligent. You never study, or do your homework, and never pass your test. Colleges and Universities won't want you in their school no matter how good your character is.

"We need to courage to start and continue what we should do, and the courage to stop what we shouldn't do." - Richard L. Evans

Many times, when people are going to make a decision, they think rational and don't think about what could happen. Also, when someone wants something but it is bad for them, they choose to get it without thinking of the consequences. For example, Someone wants to try a drug, even though it is highly dangerous and could ruin their life, along with others, they'll choose to take it. But it can be stopped if one thinks of the consequences of taking the drug. Another example would be when some friend is at a friend's house and can only stay there, but they want to go somewhere else for awhile. They should have the courage to know that they cannot go without their guardian's permission. We should have the courage to stop what we are going to do and think if it is the right thing.

"When you tell one lie, it leads to another." -Paul Hatch.

If you tell one small lie, it can lead to you telling another lie and the another, and then you have to tell even bigger lies. Sooner or later you are going to be caught, and everyone will know that you lied so you wouldn't have to get in trouble. But instead of lying, you can just tell the truth instead of saying the small lie. It's better to tell the truth then to lie because then you won't be in so much trouble. An example would be the reason why you were late. You arrive to school and they ask why you were late? You tell them that there was traffic and you live far. Your parents ask you why you were late and you say that the school made a mistake and you were early. But someone saw you when you were on your way to school. And you went somewhere different. If that person tells you have to make up another lie and say they are lying. But when they find out the truth, the school and your parents will find out you went somewhere different and not to school and you kept lying. That will get you in more trouble rather than saying where you went before school.

Winter Break

On winter break, I didn't really go out much. I went to Montebello's mall and went to a small party on New year day. I remember sleeping a lot. I also went to church because of my mom. A book I have begun reading is a novel called The Los Angeles BB murder case.

I really like it. I also watched my favorite shows, Criminal Minds, Seinfeld, and Law & Order.

I helped doing laundry and chores around the house. I've bought some new clothes and I'll be getting and Ipod soon. My mom made pozole for us to eat on Christmas. On New years, I went to a neighbor's house for a small party. I stayed there until 12:30. It was pretty fun. I don't think I did anything really exciting this entire break. It felt like how everyday was, except I didn't have school for three weeks.
