"I wasn't trying to leave a legacy. I was trying to do what was right." - Dean Smith

Everyone wants to be remembered by doing something great. But you don't need everyone to remember you, you just need one person. You don't need to have a world record or contribute something big to the world. You should always do what is right. No matter what you become, a scientist, a horseback rider, an artist, a police officer. No matter what, don't try and leave some legacy, just do what is right because that it what will matter in the end and it will effect you greatly in your life. Yes you have a purpose in this world, yes you are important to this world. But it doesn't mean you have to become big in order to change the world.

"It's not about how to achieve your dreams. It's about how to lead your life. If you lead your life the right way, the karma (destiny, fortune, good luck) will take care of itself. The dreams will come to you." - Dr.Randy Pausch

In order to live a good life, we must do good. You must believe in yourself first before getting whatever you want. You must give it your all because you only get one shot in life and you must take that opportunity and never let it go. If you want to become and artist, keep drawing until your hand hurts. If you want to be an olympic runner, keep running til' you can't stand anymore. If you want to have a good life, always traveling around the world and have the fanciest things in life then work for it. You gain nothing if you don't even try. If you really want this do not ever give up. Sure it will be hard to achieve it but all the hard work will be worth it in the end. Keep fighting for what you're aiming for and nothing but you yourself can stop you from reaching your dreams.

Educating the Body, Mind, and Character

"Of all the work that is done or that can be done for our country, the greatest is that of educating the BODY, the MIND, and above all the CHARACTER, giving spiritual and moral training to those who in a few year are themselves to decide the destinies of the nation." -Theodore Roosevelt

To make ourselves better, we must first make our Bodies, our Minds, and especially our Character improve itselves. We have to balance ourselves as if we were on a tightrope. We must know what is right from wrong in order to do good. We mustn't let bad ideas run in our head, only good ones. We can be kind to everyone help out if when needed.

"Take responsibility for your own mind, body, and spirit. For your own physical, mental, and spiritual well-being." - Mr. Haymore

No one but we ourselves can control our body, mind, and spirit. We ourselves can control our actions, our words, our thoughts, and opinions. It is our choice whether we put them to use for the better or the worse. If we do something bad because of our actions then we must take responsibility for what we have done. Instead of doing bad, we can do good. And doing good can help our Body, Mind, and Spirit.
Lausd provides a variety of things a student would either need or is interested in learning about. For example, they have the LGBT, on handling bullying, to be a supportive parent and encouragement videos. They also have after school programs like beyond the bell, Musical and Art partnership and After School program. They have school menus and student health. They also have the graduation requirements for Lausd Students. Students have to have a grade above a C in order to graduate.

The Goal Of True Education

"Intelligence is not enough. Intelligence plus character, that is the goal of true education." - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Having both Intelligence and character are good things everyone in the world needs. It balances your life. Not having the other can become negative to your life. For Example, you may be very smart but not having character can change what others think of you. You can be cold and mean, people will call you a jerk and they wouldn't care for your intelligence. Another example is when you may have a really good character but you're not that intelligent. You never study, or do your homework, and never pass your test. Colleges and Universities won't want you in their school no matter how good your character is.

"We need to courage to start and continue what we should do, and the courage to stop what we shouldn't do." - Richard L. Evans

Many times, when people are going to make a decision, they think rational and don't think about what could happen. Also, when someone wants something but it is bad for them, they choose to get it without thinking of the consequences. For example, Someone wants to try a drug, even though it is highly dangerous and could ruin their life, along with others, they'll choose to take it. But it can be stopped if one thinks of the consequences of taking the drug. Another example would be when some friend is at a friend's house and can only stay there, but they want to go somewhere else for awhile. They should have the courage to know that they cannot go without their guardian's permission. We should have the courage to stop what we are going to do and think if it is the right thing.

"When you tell one lie, it leads to another." -Paul Hatch.

If you tell one small lie, it can lead to you telling another lie and the another, and then you have to tell even bigger lies. Sooner or later you are going to be caught, and everyone will know that you lied so you wouldn't have to get in trouble. But instead of lying, you can just tell the truth instead of saying the small lie. It's better to tell the truth then to lie because then you won't be in so much trouble. An example would be the reason why you were late. You arrive to school and they ask why you were late? You tell them that there was traffic and you live far. Your parents ask you why you were late and you say that the school made a mistake and you were early. But someone saw you when you were on your way to school. And you went somewhere different. If that person tells you have to make up another lie and say they are lying. But when they find out the truth, the school and your parents will find out you went somewhere different and not to school and you kept lying. That will get you in more trouble rather than saying where you went before school.

Winter Break

On winter break, I didn't really go out much. I went to Montebello's mall and went to a small party on New year day. I remember sleeping a lot. I also went to church because of my mom. A book I have begun reading is a novel called The Los Angeles BB murder case.

I really like it. I also watched my favorite shows, Criminal Minds, Seinfeld, and Law & Order.

I helped doing laundry and chores around the house. I've bought some new clothes and I'll be getting and Ipod soon. My mom made pozole for us to eat on Christmas. On New years, I went to a neighbor's house for a small party. I stayed there until 12:30. It was pretty fun. I don't think I did anything really exciting this entire break. It felt like how everyday was, except I didn't have school for three weeks.
