“It’s a great moment when someone has character to step up and do the right thing at the right time.” - Pam Knox

I try to do the right thing at the right time. They may just be little things, but usually they make the difference between winning and losing. In life, try your best to do the right thing. Have fun while you're alive. Take advantage of every asset you have. Don't take anything for granted. Sometimes it is better to lose and do the right thing than to win and do the wrong thing.

"Goodness is the only investment that never fails." - Henry David Thoreau

People always invest in things that aren't good for them or don't really matter. They waste their time, money, and effort to get the materialistic things they don't need, But they never think about important things like being, kind, responsible, helpful to others etc. Those are the investments that really matter in life. Not Money, or Power, all that is nothing compared to being good.

"Only those live who do good." Count Leo Tolstoy

You only really feel alive when you have done something good. For example, helping an elderly man or woman up the stairs, or helping a teacher carry their things into their classroom, even helping your mother or father at home with chores makes you feel accomplished. Those who do bad won't really get any feeling out of it, you'll end up feeling a poor excuse for a human being and feel regret for whatever you've done. We are not meant to do cruel things to each other. Humans shouldn't have been made so that everything they touch becomes broken and we even do that to each other. They say that the world is a cruel place but infact it's not, it's the humans living here that make it cruel. This world has so much to offer, and so much to see than what meets the eye. But there are people out there who are greedy and selfish and only care about themselves. It's not right. Everyone should help one and another when in need. We shouldn't get into a big fight and end up hurt over something so stupid like they comment on the way you look or they're spreading rumors or is they're "better" than you because the're not. No can be a better you than you yourself.

"Take responsibility for your own mind, body, and spirit. For your own physical, mental, and spiritual well-being." - Mr. Haymore

No one but we ourselves can control our body, mind, and spirit. We ourselves can control our actions, our words, our thoughts, and opinions. It is our choice whether we put them to use for the better or the worse. If we do something bad because of our actions then we must take responsibility for what we have done. Instead of doing bad, we can do good. And doing good can help our Body, Mind, and Spirit.

The Goal Of True Education

"Intelligence is not enough. Intelligence plus character, that is the goal of true education." - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Having both Intelligence and character are good things everyone in the world needs. It balances your life. Not having the other can become negative to your life. For Example, you may be very smart but not having character can change what others think of you. You can be cold and mean, people will call you a jerk and they wouldn't care for your intelligence. Another example is when you may have a really good character but you're not that intelligent. You never study, or do your homework, and never pass your test. Colleges and Universities won't want you in their school no matter how good your character is.

"We need to courage to start and continue what we should do, and the courage to stop what we shouldn't do." - Richard L. Evans

Many times, when people are going to make a decision, they think rational and don't think about what could happen. Also, when someone wants something but it is bad for them, they choose to get it without thinking of the consequences. For example, Someone wants to try a drug, even though it is highly dangerous and could ruin their life, along with others, they'll choose to take it. But it can be stopped if one thinks of the consequences of taking the drug. Another example would be when some friend is at a friend's house and can only stay there, but they want to go somewhere else for awhile. They should have the courage to know that they cannot go without their guardian's permission. We should have the courage to stop what we are going to do and think if it is the right thing.

"When you tell one lie, it leads to another." -Paul Hatch.

If you tell one small lie, it can lead to you telling another lie and the another, and then you have to tell even bigger lies. Sooner or later you are going to be caught, and everyone will know that you lied so you wouldn't have to get in trouble. But instead of lying, you can just tell the truth instead of saying the small lie. It's better to tell the truth then to lie because then you won't be in so much trouble. An example would be the reason why you were late. You arrive to school and they ask why you were late? You tell them that there was traffic and you live far. Your parents ask you why you were late and you say that the school made a mistake and you were early. But someone saw you when you were on your way to school. And you went somewhere different. If that person tells you have to make up another lie and say they are lying. But when they find out the truth, the school and your parents will find out you went somewhere different and not to school and you kept lying. That will get you in more trouble rather than saying where you went before school.

"Always do right." - Mark Twain
I think sometimes everyone should live by this quote. And I say that because sometimes to do good you have to do bad. I believe that Our world would not function properly if it were all bad or if it were all good, I believe that our world needs to be be balanced between good and bad. Yes there are times when you have to do good like, sharing things or just being nice and helping someone out. I think people are wrong when they say it's a cruel world. The earth is a beautiful place that is controlled by humans, some are selfish and greedy and want power. This world is good but some people in it aren't. Many want to see them change, but how can they when there isn't a good example in front of them? You can be the example. You can change yourself to be good and many others will start to follow. That is all it takes to make this place better. Isn't that the correct answer?  As much as I would say you should always do the right thing, I still believe that there must be bad in this world to have balance in all of our lives. I don't know where I was going with this.

"If we do what's right, we have no need to fear."-Evan Stephens

I think everyone can agree that when you have done something wrong, you get scared of getting caught. You don't want anything to happen to you. You fear of the consequences that will come after what you did. But you don't have to fear, you don't have to wait for them to give you your punishment. You don't have to as long as you are doing good. If you are behaving and not doing anything wrong, there will be nothing to fear of because you have done no harm to anyone or anything. Many people regret what they have done after it's done, that's when they fear of the consequences that come. It stays in your mind all day and it's hard to dismiss as if it were nothing. Maybe there will be something to distract you for a while but it won't be long before it's back on your mind. You'll begin feeling bad and you'll feel guilty for what you've done. None of it has to happen unless you do what is righteous and good. No harm will be done to you, there will be nothing to worry about.

"1. Can people trust me to do what's right?
 2. Am I committed to do my very best?
 3. Do I treat people the way I want to be treated?
If the answers to these questions are yes, there is no way you can fail." - Lou Holtz

These questions let you know whether you are doing the right or wrong thing in life. If you say no to one of these questions, you can fix them. It is never too late to fix something. You know you are doing good if you answer yes to all the questions. If you say no then start treating people the way you would like to be treated. Make people know you are trustworthy. Commit yourself to do your very best, not just in school but in life. Doing this will help you succeed in life, many great things can come when you do the right thing.

" Kindness is the essence of greatness." - Joseph B. Wirthlin

Being kind is one of the best things you can do. It can change the way people see you, in a good way. It also helps change people's attitude. Kindness is something everyone should receive. It can cheer someone up and make them feel better. Be kind to everyone, and everyone will be kind to you. Being kind can be just being nice to someone, even if you don't really like them. Be respectful to others and their interest. Help someone out when in need. Even sharing things like your school supplies can be kind. Giving money to the homeless so they can buy themselves food or giving them clothes.  There's many things you can do to be kind to someone that will effect greatly.

"Hold yourself responsible for a higher standard than anybody else expects of you. Never excuse yourself." -Henry Ward Beecher

If something goes wrong, do not blame others for it and take responsibility. If you know it is your fault don't try to blame it on someone else so people will not make you feel guilty. There are many people who do this. But even if they are doing it, it is not right. No matter how many people do it.

"Doing what is right, fair and honorable is more important than winning or losing." - Chick Moorman

Most people don't like to lose, so that is why winning is so important to them. But winning isn't everything. Putting at least effort into your work is still as good as winning. If someone gets a low score, do not tell them they're an idiot. Encourage them to do better! If all you care about is winning, then you're just a loser. Winning is not important, it isn't a tittle that makes you better than anyone else, it is just a word.

"He that walketh with wise men shall be wise; but a companion of fools shall be destroyed." - Proverbs 13:20

You will be successful when you are with smart people. Fools that like to go out partying, drinking, and smoking are destroying themselves and will never be successful. Those who do good receive good, those who do bad receive bad. What these proverbs are telling you is that you have two options. One, you can be successful. Two, you can be demolished.  It is your choice, but being successful is better. You might be having fun for awhile but that will soon fade. It won't be worth it.

"The best recreation is to do good." - William Penn

Recreation means to do something you like to do. Some people like to do good, that is their best recreation. Other people may disagree but I agree that the best recreation you can do is do good. Many people say that doing good gives you a good feeling. Doing good will make you feel better when in harsh times. People in the world today sometimes don't choose to have good to one of their recreations. Everyone should have that so that we can make the world a better place.

"Right is right, even if everyone is against it; and wrong is wrong, even if everyone is for it." - William Penn

Everyone should know what is right and what is wrong. Not everyone will choose to do the right, but you should be the one who stands up to choose the right even if you stand alone. If there is some other who does not want to do the right thing then let em' be. That is their decision whether you like it or not. You won't be able to change that. Worry about yourself and do what you think is really right. If everyone thinks you are a fool for choosing to do the right then don't listen to them. You are doing something for a good cause that is right.

"A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches." Proverbs 22:1

Money is a common thing that is not important as having a good name. Having a good name is better than riches because when you're dead, everyone you thought loved you won't be at your funeral. They'll take your money and just disappear into thin air. Nobody misses a rich man. It is what is in your heart that counts. Not the money, or how many cars you have or the house that you have. None of that will matter when you are dead.

"A good name is better than anything you can achieve in this life." - Coach K. (Mike Kryzyewski)

In life, one of the most important goals is to have a good name. A good name can help you out in life. No one would want to be around someone, knowing they aren't good. We should set a good example for everyone around us. Soon everyone will do the same. Being bad will only get you a bad name thus leaving you alone with all the other bad people out there. If you already have a bad name, change yourself for the better. I believe everyone has a second chance no matter what they have done. That means for even the worst person in the world would still have a second chance in life within my eyes. You may not think the same but this is what I believe. If you are bad then change yourself for the better because everyone deserves a second chance no matter what they have done.
